Amazon and Pepsi are planning to partner in a give away. They plan to give away 1 billion MP3s from Amazon’s MP3 download store. The give away will launch during the Super Bowl on Feb 3rd.
How to win. Pepsi is going to print a code on 5 billion bottle caps and you will enter the code at the Amazon MP3 store.
We have seen this before when Pepsi partnered with apple and gave away 25 million 5 million songs. 20 million went unredeemed. Amazon and Pepsi say they are giving away 1 billion songs but that doesn’t mean they’ll actually be “giving away” anywhere near that number.

Facebook has something that myspace does not. That is great applications because of the ease of creation. So it is not surprising that the Voxalot has featured their VoIP calling solution on Facebook. Voxcall gives facebook users the ability to call their facebook friends by using their SIP URI (VoIP address that acts like a phone number and looks like an e-mail address). Users that do not have a SIP URL, can sign up for one by enrolling in the Voxcall Premium service. Voxcall has added a PIN code verification which will stop unauthorized users from using your SIP URI without your permission.

DeskUNPDF Pro is a PDF converter. It can covert office documents, pictures, and much more to PDF format. There are already free converters available, some we like are Primopdf, and doPDF. They are easy to use and get the job done.
The thing that the free ones do not do is convert PDF files to other formats. DeskUNPDF Pro which came out today lets users convert PDF files to DOC, ODT, XLS, CSV, XML, HTML, xHTML, SVG, BMP, PNG, TIF, and JPEG formats. The price for this piece of software will cost you $60.00. But it is worth it for people who need to convert many documents quickly. We will stick with the free alternatives.

Watch out Meebo there is a new kid on the block. It looks like Yahoo is working on a new IM/chat service. MyM is currently in private beta, so we do not know much besides that. Most likely it will be a web-based instant messenger that will bring Facebook, Friendster, MySpace, LiveJournal, and IM services including AIM, MSN Messenger, and Meebo together.
To us this does not make much sense, but we guess that it is all about convenience. Also Yahoo wants to be the #1 website.

Last month we wrote an article telling you how to download Vista SP1 using a registry hack. Now a new registry hack for Windows XP is available. This hack will let Windows XP users download Service Pack 3.
The SP3 is not scheduled for release until next year so it is not recommended that you download it. It is always nice to be up to date with the newest security and reliability updates but it may also cause problems.
The registry hack is pretty easy to do, just download the patch and install. Download the hack WindowsXPSP3Hack.cmd.

Everyone knows about YouTube and all the other famous video sharing sites. But this new one on the block is quite different. With SeeToo you can share your video with just one person. Great if you don’t want anyone else to see you or your family.
SeeToo is a brand new site, currently in private beta, that launched today. Just install a program, choose a video from your hard drive, and send a link to whoever you want. The link will send them to a page where the both of you can watch the video at the same time.
SeeToo does not store your video on a server, so no one will be able to access it ever. Which is good and bad because your friend will not be able to access it at a later time.
SeeToo is set to launch a public beta by the end of the year.

Mozilla has finally given us the beta release of Firefox 3. Not like the pre-beta release a couple of weeks ago.
The only differences between this beta and that pre-release version are that the Firefox team has fixed more bugs. The rest of it is the same.
New in Beta 1:
Updates to the Gecko rendering engine which should improve stability.
New Places feature makes it easier to find the sites you’ve visited most recently, most often, or starred for coming back to later.
New security features alert you when you’re visiting insecure web sites and let you auto-scan downloads with your antivirus software
We are still going to keep using Firefox 2 until all the bugs have been worked out.

Pioneer SyncTV was introduced in private beta today. The service is not one of the first of its kind but there are a some features that make SyncTV better than competitors like Amazon, Apple, and NBC.
One excellent feature is it is compatible with Mac, Linux, and PCs. Users can specify up to 5 computers for playing back videos. And once compatible portable media players are released, users will be able to watch videos on up to 10 different devices.
The service uses subscription, users will pay $2-$4 per channel. A few channels will make their content available on a pay per download. Most of the time users will only have to pay the monthly fee to get unlimited downloads of TV programs.
Like with every new online TV service there is a lack of content. The known channel is Showtime. SyncTV does look promising.

Gmail now offers you a 5GB space to store your email as you can see on the home page.
From Google:
In April 2005, we started increasing Gmail storage as part of our “Infinity+1″ storage plan. At that time, we realized we’d never reach infinity, but we promised to keep giving Gmail users more space as we were able. That said, a few of you are using Gmail so much that you’re running out of space, so to make good on our promise, today we’re announcing we are speeding up our counter and giving out more free storage.
